Happy 1 month anniversary hungry folk!
August has come to a close, but Everybody’s Hungry is blossoming. Thanks to all of your support and a healthy appetite, we have posted some fun articles and exceeded our goal of $50 in donation. In order for that donation to make a difference, it must go somewhere. That somewhere is FOOD Share of Ventura County. Today we have partnered with FOOD Share and identified them as the benefactor of our monthly Share a Bite donations.
Bonnie Weigel, President and CEO of FOOD Share, and Jeanne Benitez, Development Manager, graciously hosted us today, welcoming us to the FOOD Share family and providing a tour of their facilities. During the tour, Jeanne provided a glimpse into the needs of Ventura County and the ways that FOOD Share and their partners are working to fill those needs.
There are nearly 73,000 individuals each month benefitting from the work of FOOD Share and the 150+ non-profit partners under their umbrella. Feeding that large number of people is accomplished with the help of many volunteers and staff, along with almost 9 million pounds of food each year supplied by the agricultural community, local grocery stores, vendors, corporate sponsors, farms and individuals who want to make a difference just like us here at EBH.
Our donation this month, and moving forward, is a small contribution that will make a large impact in someone else’s life. With the partnerships and support that FOOD Share has generated over the years, they are able to take every $1 donation and turn it into $7.15 worth of healthy food for those who are hungry. With that in the back of my mind, it felt really gratifying to hand over our check today.
Hungry people aren’t just here in Ventura County though. There are individuals in need all over the country and in your town. I encourage you, as followers and supporters of Everybody’s Hungry, to look into how you can get involved with your own community. A little bit of help from passionate foodies and caring individuals will make a big difference to someone in need. It doesn’t have to be through money either. It can be as simple as volunteering at a food bank or sharing produce from your garden.
Remember, it’s not just you and me who are hungry. Everybody’s Hungry.

It was great meeting you and your wife at McGrath Family Farms. I love the blog and will chek it out as much as I can. I just think what you are doing is great! keep it up. What a great idea to combine your passion and helping others out too. I will see you soon.
